藝術家自述

當我還是一名藝術系學生時，犯罪就是我一直想要研究的話題。我總喜歡把自己置身於連環殺手的案件裡，以了解兇手的動機可能會是什麼，是甚麼使得這樣一顆喪盡天良的心的人以及他在行兇時的心裡狀態。這個主題讓我想起了安迪沃霍爾的“十三個最不受歡迎的男人”，所以我選擇了版畫作為藝術媒介而沒有經過深思熟慮。犯罪發生在現實生活中，它不是虛構而是真實的故事;這是關於血肉之軀。我不是以一個物體來陳述而是一個有血有肉心靈的身軀而來代表他，以強調「解凍」呈現在我們面前現實生活中的一個人.....

[ 性，殺戮，電影，視頻 ] 是林過雲整個犯罪的每個階段。每個階段的行為都會影響我對顏色的選擇。例如，英語中的“藍色電影”是色情電影的同義詞，所以我用藍色與性別這個詞結合起來。我為三張照片創建了一個波浪狀的表面，以產生模糊，扭曲，幻覺的感覺，並質疑“這是真的與否？”。最後一塊是扁平的，表明事情即將結束，一切都已解決，最終成為一個人。這組印刷品就像一面鏡子。觀眾在這個連環殺手中看到的東西反映了他們自己的一些東西，這是他們自己更深層次的一面。

藝術提供視覺刺激來激發思想。無法保證觀眾通過藝術作品徹底了解犯罪的本質，因為這取決於你自己的觀點和解釋......在這個版畫集中，我鼓勵觀眾自我調查並問：“我是其中一個連環殺手？我會成為下一個林過雲嗎？ “

每個人心中都有天使和魔鬼......殺人的意圖在於每個人的潛意識，只有會受到法律和道德才能約束。每個人都有一個引爆點，一旦它被觸發，他就會越界......有時候我也會想像一個殺人兇手正在殺人，以此來傳達信息或作出回應社會的聲明。

The Jars Murderer, 1982 

Crime is a topic I have always wanted to work on since I was an art student. I love putting myself in the serial killer’s shoes to learn what his motives might be, what made hime such a heart less person, and what he was thinking when he killed. This theme reminds me of Andy Warhol’s ‘Thirteen Most Unwanted Men’, so I chose printmaking as the medium of art without second thought. Crime happens in real life, it is not a fiction but a true story; it is about flesh and blood. I used his figure instead of an object to represent him, to emphasise thaw is a man who you are facing now is a man in real life.....

Sex,Kill,Film,Video”are the stages of Lam Kor Wan’s crime. The act of each stage affects my choice of colour. For example, “blue films” in English is a synonym to pornographic movies, so I used blue to combine with the word sex. I created a wavy surface for the 3 prints to generate a blurred, distorted, hallucinated feeling, and to question, “Is this real or not?”. The last piece is flattened as to show that things are coming to an end, everything is settled, and what a person has become eventually. This set of prints acts like a mirror. What the viewers see in this serial killer reflects something about themselves, a deeper darker side of themselves.

Arts provide visual stimuli to provoke thoughts. There is no guarantee that the audience will understand thoroughly the nature of crime through an art piece , because it depends on your own perspective and interpretation...In this collection of prints, I encourage viewers to look into themselves and ask, “Am I one of the serial killers? Would I be the next Lam Kor-wan?”

There are both an angel and a devil in everybody’s mind…The intention to kill is lying under everyone’s subconsciousness, it is only restrained by law and morality. Everyone has a tipping point that once it is triggered, he would cross the line...Sometimes I would also imagine that a trial killers are killing people as a way to convey a message or make a statement in response to society.
